Families are special entities comprised of numerous various characters. In some cases those personalities work well together and in some cases they clash. It is not always fun and video games in a family so you need to have family meetings to discuss issues that emerge. Family conferences do not constantly cut to the reason( s) for issues family members are having with each other and sometimes, more help is required. Family counseling is not a bad thing. It can work wonders for households who are having a hard time.
For example, Bill and Pam have 2 kids: Tom and Shelia. Shelia is 15 years old and searching for herself. She is shy and likes to keep to herself. She has a little group of good friends but is not the most popular in school. She is often teased for her shyness. Tom is 14 years of ages and plays numerous sports. He considers himself a sports "star" and hangs out with that crowd at school. Tom likes to be among those who is always heard, the life of the celebration and he is frequently the provocateur of jokes, particularly on Lynn. The animosity in between the siblings makes house life more difficult. Tom continuously teases Shelia for being shy and keeping to herself. He is head-strong and stubborn.
Due to the fact that both parents work full-time to pay the home mortgage and other expenses, they are uninformed of the severity of the brother or sister situation at school and house. They both think it is just a stage both children are going through and leave it at that. When Shelia's grades start to slip at here school (which is uncharacteristic of her), a school therapist calls her in. After talking with Lynn, the counselor calls her parents and recommends family therapy so they can work out the sibling has a hard time together as a family
On that guidance, Bill and Pam discover time to take their kids to counseling and work on things together. After a few sessions, Tom is less of a tease and reveals more respect to Shelia. Shelia has become more open about how she feels and they invest more time together as a family.
